JODŁOWA DOLINA

TRANSLATION, DRAMATURGY, DIRECTING

Staging of a contemporary novel by Slovak author Maria Modrovich, about new models of women's lives. Prepared as a diploma show with students of Actors’ Studio of Silesian Theater, Katowice 2023.

Somewhere in the middle of a dense forest lies Fir Valley – an old holiday resort whose glory days are long gone. The socialist-style, wood-paneled cottages were reportedly bought by a world-famous singer known as N., who abandoned her career and withdrew from public life a few years ago. Residents of nearby villages occasionally report to gossip websites that the eccentric N. illegally hunts local wildlife and lives year-round in unheated summer cottages with a group of women, with whom she performs naked black masses at every full moon. One summer, an ambitious journalist arrives to create a series of videos in which he will answer questions that are bothering the public: Why did N. move to the middle of the forest? Who are the women she surrounds herself with? Do they share a common ideology? Has N. really become a spiritual leader and founded a sect? And if so, is she dangerous?
